Sparkrite SX4000, Electronic Ignition Around the Original Points

The Sparkrite Approach

The result is a kit that fits into existing Lucas distributors in the same way as the Accuspark kit, with the trigger replacing the original points-and-condenser arrangement and the wiring connecting to the existing coil. The conversion preserves the existing distributor body, cap, rotor arm, advance mechanism and shaft, only the internal trigger mechanism changes.
Installation and Compatibility
Sparkrite installation follows the same principle as the other electronic-conversion brands. The distributor cap and rotor arm are removed, the original points and condenser are removed from the distributor body, the Sparkrite trigger components are fitted in their place, and the wiring is connected to the coil. The specific installation details, the base-plate orientation, the magnet-ring or shutter alignment, the wiring polarity, are documented in the kit's installation instructions and may differ in detail from the equivalent Accuspark or Lumenition installation. After installation, the engine timing is set with a strobe timing light using the standard procedure with the kit's specific recommendations for initial setup.
